Overview

The store owner creates a Shopify app and enters its Client ID and Client secret in Entagl once. Entagl encrypts the secret and renews short-lived access automatically. The AI can then check recent orders and inventory using the permissions the merchant approved.

Common tasks

Create a Shopify app

Sign in at https://dev.shopify.com/dashboard as the store owner, open Apps, and click Create app. Collaborator accounts cannot do this, and the app and store must be in the same Shopify organization.
In the “Start from Dev Dashboard” box, type Entagl Integration as the app name and click Create app.
Open Versions and click Create version. Scroll to URLs: set App URL to https://shopify.dev/apps/default-app-home and leave “Embed app in Shopify admin” unticked.
In the Scopes box under API access, paste this full line exactly: read_products,read_customers,read_orders,write_orders,read_draft_orders,write_draft_orders,read_inventory
Click Release at the top right and confirm. The version is live once its status shows Active.
On the app Home page, click Install app, choose a store, review the permissions, and install. Repeat for each store you want to connect.
Open Settings. Under Credentials, copy the Client ID and reveal the Secret. Paste the secret directly into Entagl.
In Entagl, open Channels → Shopify. Connect one store with its domain, Client ID, and secret. Click Connect another store to add the next store.

Rotate a Client secret

Open the app’s Settings page in the Shopify Dev Dashboard and click Rotate beside the Client secret.
Confirm the rotation and copy the new secret. Treat the old secret as revoked.
In Entagl, open Channels → Shopify and enter the same shop domain and Client ID with the new secret.
Click Connect and confirm that no setup warning remains.

Tips

The store owner must complete the Dev Dashboard steps. Collaborator accounts cannot complete this setup. The app and target store must appear in the same Shopify organization.

Merchant-created apps do not have the Partner Dashboard customer-data steps shown in older guides. If Shopify blocks order access, check the app scopes and your store plan.

Standard Shopify order lookup covers the most recent 60 days. Older orders need human support.
